MICRO INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES NEW NLX DUAL PENTIUM III MOTHERBOARD
Westerville, Ohio, October 27, 1999
Micro Industries Corporation today announced the mNLX71, the first Dual PentiumĀ® III motherboard in NLX format. Micro Industries is an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company that provides electronic engineering and manufacturing resources to OEMs. The mNLX71 is an NLX motherboard that can be used for desktop as well as embedded applications. The product is based on the latest IntelĀ® technology for processors and chipsets, which supports Dual Processor Technology, AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) Controller, and 100MHz SDRAM, for the maximum performance available. Its foundation on the NLX form factor also allows greater flexibility in system integration, product maintenance, and field upgrades. "The new mNLX71, which utilizes the high performance Pentium III processor, is optimized for server applications in a Windows NT environment," stated Michael Curran, CEO of Micro Industries. "This motherboard provides the speed, flexibility and power that OEMs and existing NLX users need for demanding applications such as imaging, video servers, Internet and Intranet servers, routers, and telephony. Added audio support also increases the usability of the board." Curran continued, "The new design of the mNLX71 will support all future generations of Slot1 Pentium III processors, ensuring long-term performance and reliability. The board was also designed with all of the advantages of a passive backplane, such as ease of maintenance and long term product support."
The mNLX71 Includes Powerful Features and Capabilities
- Dual Pentium III Slot 1: The newest member of the Pentium chip family supports the maximum performance available in the X86 architecture with DIB (Dual Independent Bus) architecture, and MMX support.
- Intel BX Chipset: This chipset from Intel optimizes the performance of the Pentium processor by enabling 100 MHz SDRAM and memory. It also supports 100MHz System Bus and AGP Bus for improved system performance and optimized multimedia graphics capabilities.
- NLX Form Factor: Designed by Intel, this form factor supports larger memory modules, the latest microprocessors and AGB video cards, and provides better access to motherboard components, enabling system-level design and integration flexibility. The dockable design also allows for easy removal for upgrades or service.
- LSI SCSI Controller: This PCI Ultra2 controller from LSI Logic provides faster data accessibility and better I/O subsystem performance, and features Wide Ultra SCSI.
- Intel Ethernet Controller: This 10/100 MB Ethernet interface with advanced power management and wake-on-LAN is Intel's leading solution for PCI LAN designs. It combines a small package design with low power expenditure to conserve energy.
- Intel AGP Controller: This high performance graphics accelerator supports graphic-intensive applications with independent multimedia capture and display systems on the chip.
