MICRO INDUSTRIES' NEW mATX815E MOTHERBOARD STABILIZES SERVERS AND HIGH-PERFORMANCE DESKTOP SYSTEMS
Intel Technology Ensures Long-Term Availability
Westerville, Ohio - February 4, 2002
Micro Industries today announced the release of its mATX815E, a motherboard that uses innovative Intel technology to provide long-term stability and support in high-performance communication environments.
When designing the mATX815E, Micro Industries sought components that were compatible with today's technology, and versatile enough to change with its customers' growing needs. "We wanted to offer our customers an ATX-based motherboard that would accommodate their needs now and well into the future," said Michael Curran, president and CEO of Micro Industries. "The mATX815E accomplishes these goals, giving customers support for both current and emerging applications."
At the heart of the mATX815E is the Intel® 815E chipset, which handles the functions of the graphics controllers, local area network (LAN) interconnects, and audio cards on one standardized platform. With the chipset on board, the mATX815E is able to deliver accelerated graphics port (AGP)-style graphics, dual USB controllers, and a dedicated bandwidth for multimedia and Internet functions. The 815E chipset provides twice the bandwidth of the PCI bus, as well as dedicated data paths for guaranteed packet delivery to avoid potential PCI bottlenecks, clearing the way for smooth e-business, video conferencing, and Internet access.
Anchoring the board are Intel Pentium® III or Celeron™ processors, plus dual Intel 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet controllers, which give the mATX815E the stability needed to balance surging network traffic. When paired with networking software, the controllers can be programmed to share heavy traffic loads for greater throughput, fewer network slowdowns, and better networkstability than standard single-controller products.
Micro Industries' mATX815E features:
- Intel® Celeron™ and Pentium® III Processors and 815E Chipset: The mATX815E supports Intel Celeron processors with 128 KB integrated cache and Intel Pentium III processors with 256 KB integrated cache, and three 168-pin DIMM sockets provide up to 512 MB of SDRAM. The 815E chipset includes two Ethernet controllers and internal AGP-style graphics.
- ATX Form Factor: This form factor provides a flexible I/O interface via a 6.25-inch x 1.75-inch rear I/O panel and stackable connectors. It also provides a flexible format for front panel I/O connections without interfering with expansion. The mATX815E is based on a 12-inch x 9.6-inch ATX form factor, and fits into 1U, 2U, and 4U rackmount and tower desktop chassis, all available from Micro Industries.
- Dual Ethernet: Two Ethernet controllers for greater network throughput and fewer slowdowns.
- Hardware Monitoring: National Semiconductor® LM80 Microprocessor System Hardware Monitor monitors six voltages and two fan speeds.
- Graphics: The 815E chipset directly supports AGP graphics, alleviating the need for an additional graphics controller. A Digital Video Output (DVO) connector supports a Molex® Digital Visual Interface (DVI) card for DVI drive capability. DVI eliminates the need for digital-to-analog conversion and offers an enhanced graphics experience for high-performance PCs.
- Four USB Ports: Support for up to 127 physical devices needed for a complete high-performance system package.
- Additional Features: Watchdog timer, two EIDE channels, floppy disk drive interface, PS/2 keyboard/mouse interface, Real Time Clock with battery backup, Advanced Power supply Control (APC), and Advanced Power Management.
