SUNGLASS HUT LAUNCHES IN-STORE INTERACTIVE SYSTEM BASED ON MICRO INDUSTRIES RETAIL SOLUTIONS

Sunglass Hut, the recognized leader in specialty sunglasses, launched its innovative “Social Sun” in-store interactive camera taking experience utilizing Micro Industries Touch&Go® Computers in its Herald Square Store in New York City on May 29. Micro Industries crafted and delivered a total solution, including computer hardware, application development, installation and remote managed service to meet Sunglass Hut’s distinctive vision.
This interactive touch screen computer interface guides customers through an effortless picture taking process which allows customers to compare their looks, email pictures to friends, share them on Facebook or view them on in-store large LCD computer screens for immediate feedback and reactions to their selected sunglasses. “Social Sun allows us to further distinguish Sunglass Hut as a leader in retail innovation,” said Jack Krause, General Manager, Sunglass Hut North America. “The solution helps customers make a purchase decision because they can see themselves as others do and get opinions from friends and family.” This new experience was designed for Sunglass Hut’s young and hip, tech-savvy demographic to take advantage of in-store social networking through technology.
Sunglass Hut has deployed this in-store experience into eight key locations nationwide: Herald Square, Time Square, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Miami, Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus.
Sunglass Hut went from concept to deployment of the initial pilot system in an impressively short three months by leveraging three readily adaptable retail solutions from Micro Industries: Touch&Go all-in-one computer systems , mCosm’s Rapid Application Development Framework and mCosm’s Remote Managed Service.
